Frustration

Frustration
Has exceeded my limits,
Since I lost
My love.
Long and grey
Is my beard.
Whatever comes
On my way
In these times,
Is filled nothing
But sorrow.
For me, everyday
Is a long day.
Tired, are my eyes,
I'm lonely too.
May be,
I'm entering
The spirit of
Old age.

I'm Only a Simple Man

   In the school of kindness,
   I'm only a primary student.
   In the garden of beauty,
   I'm only a good admirer.
   In the atmosphere of music,
   I'm only a keen listener.
   In the field of poetry,
   I'm only a normal scribbler.
   In the ocean of knowledge,
   I'm only a drop o'water.
   In the world of harmony,
   I'm only a peace-lover.
   In the circle of human-race,
   I'm only a simple man.

Discipline

“Discipline

I am old and I have had
more than my share of good and bad.

I've had love and sorrow, seen sudden death
and been left alone and of love bereft.

I thought I would never love again
and I thought my life was grief and pain.

The edge between life and death was thin,
but then I discovered discipline.

I learned to smile when I felt sad,
I learned to take the good and the bad,
I learned to care a great deal more
for the world about me than before.

I began to forget the "Me" and "I"
and joined in life as it rolled by:
this may not mean sheer ecstasy
but is better by far than "I" and "Me.”

Dreamgirl

Dreamgirl
Like a pearl in the ocean
Glittering star in the sky
Bright flower in a garden
Beauty in a rainy night

Waves in the ocean may stop flowing
Stars in the sky may stop twinkling
Sun may not shine again
But your beauty will never end

Your enriching bright smile
Your twinkling blue eyes
your pure golden heart
You are a goddess inside

You gave me happiness to my sad world
My heart was full of joy because of you
My tears stopped I got life again
You were a mermaid to my dark world

My eyes search for you where are you
My arms wait to embrace you
This heart beats for you all my life
This is a feeling that will never die

My Two Naughty Brothers

Author:Hiruni Peiris, Sri Lanka
Poem

MY TWO NAUGHTY BROTHERS
I have two naughty brothers,
Both younger than me,
One is eight
And the other is three.

Their characters vary
At different times,
They are very helpful
But annoying sometimes

They know how to annoy me
Much than anyone does
And also they know to make me happy
Oh yes that they know, yes

They know how I get annoyed
They know that I hate my books ripped
They also know that I'll cheer up
When in the morning they bring my tea cup

Brothers maybe annoying sometimes, yes that's true
If you have a brother
you'll say he's a pain
But I think you better think carefully again!
